4.1 Falcon Class
4.2 Kestrel Class
Year 4 have been learning about area in maths. First we looked at a square centimetre and estimated how many would cover the surface of different items in our classroom. Then we used square centimetre paper to estimate and then count the squares of the area of different shapes. Finally we looked at a square metre and discussed that in a similar way.

A Love of Reading
This term we have enjoyed delving into books such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, David Williams’ series and Harry Potter. We enjoy reading striving to read regularly at both home and school.
We have employed our research skills, enjoying researching many aspects of Roman Britain, including learning about the structure of a roman villa and what each room was used for.
Things got a little messy when we were making the shields. However, we had loads of fun creating, painting and constructing our shields. We persevered even when challenges arose and worked together to solve different problems. We shared our resources and materials. We are looking forward to testing our shields out by completing different shield formations.
As part of our History and Design and Technology units we have been designing and creating Roman Shields. To begin the process we researched about Roman Shields. We then designed our own shields, taking into consideration, shape, colours and design features.
